Amazon Lodge Cuisine  

In total charge of the galley at The Amazon Lodge is Louise who has many years of culinary experience in various countries. Her last major assignment was in a Jungle Lodge in Botswana where there nearest store was 300 km. away. She can make almost anything with anything.

At The Amazon Lodge she has a wide range of recipes, many handed down from the families of chefs she has met and from her own South African family whose ancestors came from France over 400 years ago.  Below are  a selection of the wonderful meals she can prepare for you. If you have a special request, a favourite meal or special dietary requirements just let us know before you arrive so we can make your stay a truly wonderful one.

Please note we can only serve ONE MEAL selection each day which will be available to all guests provided you order by midday. First order to come in will determine the starter and main course for the day. All dinners are served as a set menu with a three-course meal, priced at US $40.00, which include service charges. Oven-roasted pork chops in a tomato and fennel sauce, served on a bed of rice with roast vegetables and side salad
   
Sesame Chicken in Teriyaki (for the day you want to indulge yourself!): tender chicken breasts stir-fried in teriyaki with bell peppers, onions, honey and sesame seeds and served on a bed of basmati rice; with vegetable side dishes
   

Beef Stroganoff in a creamy mushroom sauce, served on tagliatelle, with steamed brocolli and pumpkin side
   
Caribbean Ginger Chicken is a delicious tangy chicken dish served with local side dishes and rice.
