We are very proud of our personalised one on one tours. Your tour guide, Peter, is very knowledgeable not just about the flora and fauna but also about all aspects of the social and economic life of Trinidad & Tobago as he is a Past President of The Chamber of Commerce, Past President of Rotary and past Chairman of Point Lisas, the largest petro-chemical complex in the Caribbean situated just 30 minutes from The Amazon Lodge. Tours are for one to three persons. All prices are in US $. Service charge is included but not VAT.

Yerette Hummingbird Centre - 3 hours

A retired couple, Theo and Gloria, have created a world famous centre at their home in the beautiful Maracas Valley. Visited by no less a person that the wife of the President of China during their state visit in 2013, the sight of hundreds of hummingbirds and the incredible slide show given by Theo make this a firm favourite with our guests.

Scarlet Ibis Caroni Bird Sanctuary Boat Ride - 3 hours
To see the national bird of Trinidad & Tobago coming home to roost in flocks numbering in their hundreds is an amazing sight. Your boat ride with Nanan's Scarlet Ibis Tours will take you through the heart of the mangrove swamp where you may see many of the creatures that call the area home.

Maracas Water Fall - 4 hours
Just 40 minutes from The Amazon Lodge, this 100 metre high waterfall plunges into a lovely cool pool, ideal for swimming. We take you to the entrance to the trade which is really a Grade 1 walk and then you call us when you are ready to be picked up. Good walking shoes are advised. You can swim when you reach the waterfall. Ask us for towels.

Hanuman Statue and Temple in the Sea - 3 hours.

Built just a few years ago, this magnificent Hindu temple crafted by artisans brought from India never ceases to amaze visitors . Leaving Lord Hanuman, we drive through an old Royal Road lined with 30 metre high palm trees down to the Temple In The Sea, which was created by one worker in tribute for the saving of his life while crossing the Atlantic.

We even pop into the giant Point Lisas petro-chemical estate for a few minutes so you can see where Trinidad's wealth comes from.     The tour includes cold drinks.

Montserrat Hills and 130 Year Old Church- 3 hours

Take a drive in the beautiful rolling hills in the centre of Trinidad. Subject to availability we also visit the beautiful wooden church which was recently completely restored. The stained-glass windows were all made in Toulouse, France. The Stations of the Cross, which still have their inscriptions written in French, are also believed to be of French origin as are original paintings on tin which are approximately 150 years old. Sushi Classes

We provide all ingredients and tools and will show you basic sushi making techniques At the end of the day we enjoy our creations for dinner! Learn how to cook sushi rice. Roll, cut and plate three types of sushi roll (futomaki, uramaki and mosaic). And enjoy some complimentary sake while learning. We also provide you with notes and a sushi mat to take home so you can practice your new skill. Sushi content may be subject to local availability. Please book at least three days in advance.

Chocolate Tour at Ortinola Estate- 4 hours (1 pm - 5 pm):

 

Visit a cocoa estate in the lush Maracas Valley. Crack open pods to taste the beans and explore a restored cocoa house to watch a demo of cocoa dancing before taking a tour of the Great House. Enjoy a tea break and snacks, before getting down to the business of making your own chocolate bars to take back home! Due to its popularity, booking well in advance is essential (minimum of one month).

Lopinot Plantation House and Picnic - 4 hours

First we take a scenic tour through one of the oldest cocoa and coffee growing valleys before arriving at a beautifully preserved Plantation House which traces its history back to 1800. While you walk through the home and grounds, your personal guide lays a beautiful picnic lunch for you accompanied by the beverage of your choice.

Maracas Beach - 4 hours

This sleepy village on the east coast of Trinidad could serve as a icon of religious tolerance to the world.  

There were not enough Muslims, Hindus or Christians in this little village to build their own place of worship so they pooled their resources and build one small hall which they happily share for their respective devotions.

Pitch Lake - 6 hours

Often referred to as the Eighth Wonder of The World, this amazing natural phenomenon occurs in only a few places in the world and no pitch lake is as large or as accessible as the one in Trinidad. Leatherback Lodge - Turtle Watching

The Leatherback Lodge near Toco will take you to their lovely home with amazing grounds
full of butterflies and birds. Watching Leatherback Turtles come ashore and lay as much as a hundred eggs
 is one of those lifetime experiences. The tour includes your accommodation for one night, local dinner on
arrival (it's delicious), permits, guides and transport to the turtles. Plus a continental breakfast and transport
either back to the Amazon Lodge or to the airport.

  "Passagemaker" Scotland Bay Tour - 6 hours.

When we have our 50 year old, teak-hulled motor yacht in the water we are happy to do day tours with guests. The tour takes us out of Chaguaramas past the famous Prison Island of Carrera, past the holiday island of Gasparie and into Scotland Bay where we anchor. We have two kayaks on board for guests use. Transport from The Lodge, lunch and all drinks are included. We can also do overnight stop including an on board BBQ for 50% extra.
